detailing logo How To Clean And Protect Soft Tops - Ferrari F355 Spider - Chemical Guys Car Care

All convertible tops need special care to prevent fading, staining and premature failure. This neglected Ferrari F355 Spider is in desperate need of a detail. Layers of dust and debris blanket and hide the true finish of this sporty convertible.

In this video, Nick begins by carefully cleaning the fabric soft top with a Soft Horse Hair Brush and Convertible Top Cleaner, taking precaution to avoid heavily saturating the soiled top which may cause seepage.

Now that the top was clean it was time to focus on the body. To avoid heavily saturating the fabric top we decided to use a Jet Stream Car Wash Fire Hose Nozzle to take down as much of loose surface contamination. Using Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish Car Wash Soap we add tons of foam to our wash bucket which creates lubrication that reduces the chances of scratching the paintwork. Working in straight lines we avoid installing fresh swirls which are a lot easier to notice and a lot harder to polish out. To dry the vehicle we use the Waffle Weave Drying Towel which is soft and safe to use on even the most delicate of surfaces. The high absorption ability combined with the extra large size makes this towel great for drying any size vehicle in no time.

After the Ferrari was total clean we can see that it is covered in swirls and scratches which are most easily removed with a machine polisher, but before we can do that it needs a clay bar service to remove all embedded contamination. Stay tuned!
